Stonewall Jackson
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Stonewall Jackson Senior High School is located at Manassas in Virginia. David J. Huckestein is the principal of this school. Stonewall was named one of the top 1 percent of all high schools in the United States. The school has earned top honors among all other Prince William County schools in the same index. The administration, faculty and staff provide a safe, friendly environment in which learning can take place.
The school staff consists of a set of dedicated professionals who strive to meet the academic needs of the students and their families. The school has added an engineering program. The program is a four year sequence of courses which, when combined with college preparatory math and science courses in high school, introduces students to the scope, rigor and discipline of engineering prior to entering college. It also provides classrooms of art, business, foreign language, guidance, library media center, mathematics, music, science, social studies and special education.
The Diploma Programme has the strengths of a traditional and broad curriculum, but with three important additional features, first is the theory of knowledge, extended essay and creativity, action, service features. The school curriculum, as well as curricular and extra curricular activities, includes experiences that enable students to realize personal and civic goals which allow them to mature and to be responsible members of our constantly changing society. The school also participates in a number of sporting events.
The students and faculty blend rigorous academic studies and exchanges into lives lived fully and committed to making a difference. In this regard, knowledge, honor, courage, and service stand out as elements of character important in their daily lives and to the future of each student. The school believes that intellectual and moral excellence is achieved through the active participation of many people in diverse roles, which brings in a wide range of expertise and experience.
