Roswell
High school is a name used in some parts of the world and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Roswell High School RHS is one of the top public schools in Georgia. It serves the entire city of Roswell west of Georgia 400 and the city of Mountain Park. The school first opened in 1949 and is the second oldest in Fulton County north of the Chattahoochee River. Roswell High School is a member of the Georgia High School Association GHSA for athletic competition.
Roswell High School was named a National Blue Ribbon school in 1997-1998 by the US department of education. It is also designated a Georgia School of Excellence. RHS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Georgia Department of Education. It is a part of the Fulton County School System.
At Roswell High School, athletic teams are considered an extension of the classrooms and are ambassadors of not only the school, but also the community as a whole. The school's motto, a tradition of excellence, exemplifies the hard work of the student athletes both on and off the field of play. The Roswell high mascot is the Hornet and the school colors are Green, Black and White. The Hornets compete in 22 sports at the Varsity level. 11 are Men's sports and 11 are women's.
The mission of Roswell High School is to educate and challenge students to become respectful and responsible citizens equipped with knowledge and skills necessary to successfully communicate, solve problems and use technology in the 21st century as a part of an ever-changing global society.
