Roosevelt
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Roosevelt High School is a high school located in Sioux Falls. The current enrollment is 1,923 students. Theodore Roosevelt High School opened in September 1991 on a 40-acre campus in southwest Sioux Falls. Jim Denevan is the principal of the school.
Roosevelt High School was selected as a pilot site for the South Dakota Modernization Project. Through the modernization project and continued efforts to improve student attainment, Roosevelt High School has embarked upon programs in value-added instruction, classroom management, 21st century skills, curriculum mapping and differentiated instruction. Roosevelt high school has been consistently ranked in the top three to four percent of all high schools in the United States.
The mission of the Roosevelt high school community is to assist all students in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to increase student achievement, to become productive members of society, and to inspire lifelong learning. The aim of Roosevelt High School Community is to educate and challenge students to become respectful and responsible citizens equipped with knowledge and skills necessary to successfully communicate, solve problems and use technology in the 21st century as a part of an ever-changing global society.
