Rockwood Summit
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Rockwood Summit High School is located in a suburban, residential area in southwest St. Louis County, Missouri. The Rockwood School District encompasses a 150 square mile area in St. Louis County. The district includes communities such as Chesterfield, Ballwin, Manchester, Ellisville, Eureka, and Fenton. Rockwood’s student population is 20,000 and continues to grow each year. Senior high schools include Eureka, Lafayette, Marquette, and Rockwood Summit. Approximately 85 percent of the district’s graduates attend college. The Rockwood School District participates in the Voluntary Interdistrict Desegregation program with the city of St. Louis.
Grade point average and class rank are based on grades earned in grades 9 to 12. All students are included in class rank, and each course for which the student receives a grade is included in the grade point average and class rank.
Advance Placement courses includes AP Biology, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP Computer Science, Government and Politics, AP U.S. History, German, Spanish, French III, IV, V, English Composition, English Literature, American History, Psychology, St. Louis University Credit, Physics. Athletics department includes baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, and wrestling. Rockwood Summit High School, working together with parents and community, educates and challenges all students to achieve their full potential.
