Riverside
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Riverside High School is a four-year public high school located in Durham, North Carolina. The current principal is James Key. Opened in 1993, the school currently enrolls approximately 1935 students and is one of seven high schools in the Durham Public School System. The school offers classes on a semesterly basis, with students taking 4 classes generally 2 cores and 2 elective each semester. Riverside is an accredited school and is also home to the Durham Public Schools' pre-engineering curriculum.
Riverside High School is a public school under the Durham Public Schools system. In its thirteenth year, Riverside has become the flagship high school for DPS. Riverside has a beautiful campus, high test scores, great extracurricular programs, as well as three state-champion sports teams. It has a great mix of students and is well patrolled and kept safe by many law enforcement officers.
James Key is the principle of the school. School faculty includes administration, guidance, cultural arts, English, foreign language, science, social studies and math. Riverside high school fields teams in 16 different sports and has won state championships in wrestling, men's lacrosse and volleyball. Riverside also has an excellent Special Education department, which ensures that the Special Education student will obtain a High School degree, and have a great time as well.
