River Dell
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
River Dell is a top high school situated in the United States. It is a four year comprehensive regional public high school, part of the River Dell Regional School District, which is shared with the neighboring communities of Oradell and River Edge in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. Lorraine Brooks is the principal of the school. The mascot is Hawk and the colors are black and gold.
For the 1997 to 1998 school year, River Dell High School received the Blue Ribbon award from the United States department of education, the highest honor that an American school can achieve. The school participates in the BCSL American League for sports. Pep rallies occur twice a year and seek to encourage athletes and their respective school teams. It is also known for its annual musical, choral presentations, and film festival.
Currently, there is a great deal of construction occurring. However, once the construction is completed in the spring of 2007, the school will have a new wing, which will include six science and seven general classrooms and a gymnasium. Enhancements to the library, art rooms, technology and computer labs and athletic fields are also included in the project. The school has implemented a student tablet initiative in which each upcoming freshman class receives a hybrid tablet personal computer notebook for use during their four years of high school.
The school curriculum, as well as curricular and extra curricular activities, includes experiences that enable students to realize personal and civic goals which allow them to mature and to be responsible members of our constantly changing society. The students and faculty blend rigorous academic studies and exchanges into lives lived fully and committed to making a difference. In this regard, knowledge, honor, courage, and service stand out as elements of character important in their daily lives and to the future of each student.
