Lake Forest
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Lake Forest High School, or LFHS, is a public four-year high school located in Lake Forest, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It serves the communities of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff and Knollwood. It is fed by Lake Bluff Middle School, Lake Forest Country Day School, Saint Mary's and Deerpath Middle School. Colors Royal blue and gold. Mascot is the school scouts. Originally built in 1935, the facilities have had substantial and continual renovation.
In 2005, Lake Forest had an average composite score of 25.1, and graduated 99.8 percent of its senior class. It has been included in the top thousand and most successful lists of the national association of secondary school principals, the New York Times, the Washington post, and parade magazine. Lake Forest has an average class size of 9.3. and made adequate yearly progress on the Prairie State achievements examination, a state test part of the no child left behind act.
Although LFHS honor classes aren't as hard as other schools in the area, both private and public. It is a shame that the education is not up to par because of the vast financial opportunities, however, it is what it is, and will be until the community steps up and pushes the students to excel.
In Lake Forest High School athletic department they offer boys sports baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer and girls sports badminton, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, track spring, volleyball, and water polo etc.
Lake Forest High School has certified and licensed ATC, Athletic Trainers who are highly educated and experienced in providing injury care and evaluation, including a wide range of therapeutic treatment and rehabilitation programs. Its mission to provide an academic environment, which fosters curiosity, creativity, responsibility, honesty, logical thinking and an appreciation for self and others, in order to help each individual succeed in today’s changing world.
