High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.

Clarkstown High School North is a high school educating students in the grades grades 9 through 12. Clarkstown North, as it is referred to by students and staff, is one of two high schools in the Clarkstown Central School District. As recently as 2005, Clarkstown North consisted of two wings. An older building commonly referred to as the Annex, was built later. The two older wings, plus the new additional wing known as the New Building makes up Clarkstown High School North.

The Clarkstown Central School District, in a mutually respectful partnership with the community, and within a secure, caring environment, will meet the unique needs of its students and motivate and enable them to be life-long learners and productive, ethical contributors to an ever-changing global society. Harry Leonardatos is Principal of Clarkstown High School North. Clarkstown North's mascot is a Ram and the school colors are purple and gold.

The high school athletics is a vital part of Clarkstown North, and like all parts of the high school, should reflect a concern for intellectual, moral and social values, and for the pursuit of excellence. Clarkstown North is committed to academic and athletic excellence, sound practices, enhancement of the physical and educational welfare of student-athletes, equal opportunity, character development, as well as the fundamental values of sportsmanship, civility, and the common virtue of good citizenship.
