Cherry Hill East
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Cherry Hill High School East is a four-year comprehensive public high school located in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Cherry Hill Public Schools. It opened in 1967 and now has approximately 2,200 students in grades 9th to 12th. It has prestigious tennis, swimming, basketball, baseball and volleyball teams. It is a growing school with a large academic base.
The school is one of three high schools in the district the others are Cherry Hill High School West and Cherry Hill Alternative High School. It was established in 1967. The school Principal is Dr. John O'Breza. For the 2001 to 02 school year, Cherry Hill High School East received the Blue Ribbon Award from the United States department of education, the highest honor that an American school can achieve. Cherry Hill High School East was the 42nd ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2006 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools.
In 1998, the Cherry Hill High School East Mock Trial Team won the national championships. The Cherry Hill High School East Cougars participate in the nineteen-member Olympic Conference, which consists of public and private high schools located in Burlington County and Camden County. Cherry Hill High School East also has a separate club ice hockey team as a member of the South Jersey High School Ice Hockey League.
Cherry Hill High School goal is increase academic achievement district-wide with a special emphasis on literacy and mathematics gains for each student. At Cherry Hill High School, their mission is to provide a learning environment where students are challenged to reach their individual potential in the achievement of knowledge and the development of personal, cultural and democratic values essential for future success.
