Brookfield East (tie)
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Brookfield East High School is a comprehensive four year public secondary school located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The Brookfield East High School was established 1962. The school is part of the Elmbrook School District and is accredited by the North Central Association. Its rival is Brookfield Central High School, also located in Brookfield. Brett Bowers is the Principal and Michelle McKenna is the assistant of the school.
Brookfield East offers courses in Art, Business Management and Technology, English, Foreign Language, Family and Consumer Education, Applied Technology and Engineering, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Science, and Social Studies. Honors, Advanced, and Advanced Placement classes are available in many subjects. Brookfield East has a notable music department. In April of 2005, members of the band marched in the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington, D.C., and performed a concert in front of the World War II Memorial. In late January 2007, the band will travel to Florida to perform in the annual parade at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World.
The Brookfield East Spartans compete in the Greater Metro Conference and school is perhaps best known for its strong soccer programs. The 1995 boy's team finished 29-0-0, won the school's first ever state soccer championship, and completed the season ranked as the number one team in the United States according to USA Today's NSCAA, National Soccer Coaches Association of America rankings.
The mission of Brookfield East High School is to enhance the students' academic, artistic, social, and technological skills to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing and increasingly diverse society.
