Woodbridge
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Woodbridge High School is a public high school located in Irvine, California, serving grades 9 to 12. Founded in 1980, it has an approximate enrollment of 2,200 students. Woodbridge entertains an exciting academic program; it has competitive academic teams such as The Academic Decathlon, Science Olympiad, FIRST Robotics, Science Fair and Science Bowls. Woodbridge has claimed state and regional victories Academic Decathlon, History Day, Science Bowl, Science Fair and Science Olympiad.
Mr. Tom Nelson is the Principal of the school and the school colors are red and gold. Woodbridge has a marching band and many athletic teams cross country, volleyball, basketball, tennis, swimming etc. It was designed and built with the intention of converting it to a shopping center within a decade, because Irvine was not expected to grow much. Instead the population of Irvine boomed, and now there are plans to add a new music building.
At Woodbridge High School, their mission is to promote educational growth through a rigorous curriculum along with the acquisition of technical skills and knowledge that will provide a basis for lifelong learning and will create a bridge between education and career.
