Rowlett
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Rowlett High School is a secondary school in Rowlett, Texas, United States. Rowlett, which covers grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Garland Independent School District. The first classes were held in 1996. Dr. Marlene Ham merle has been the principal ever since the school's founding. The students residing in the Dallas County portion of Rowlett, the Dallas County portions of Wylie and Sachse, and the Garland portion of Garland are eligible to attend Rowlett High School.
Rowlett High School is thought of as the neighborhood school of that portion of Rowlett. Rowlett High School's mascot is the Eagle and the colors are maroon, white and navy. Approximately 2,700 students attend the school. The activities include choir, band, drill team, technical theatre, football, basketball and baseball as well as other activities. Rowlett High School is one of eight high schools in the Garland Independent School District. Currently, Garland is the second largest public school district in Dallas County, the fourth largest school district in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and the eleventh largest district in the state of Texas.
The mission of Rowlett High School is to offer an environment in which all students will acquire the necessary skills to become responsible thinkers who appreciate diversity and are productive citizens in their community.
