Reno
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Reno is a top high school situated in the United States.Reno High School is a public secondary school in Reno, Nevada that is a part of the Washoe County School District. The school mascot is the Husky, and the school's colors are red and blue. The Mascot of the school is Husky. Their teams are known as the Reno Huskies.
Reno High was the first high school in Reno. High School students in Reno were originally taught in the basement of a building on the corner of First and Virginia street, on the future site of the Will Richeson Mortuary.. In 1869 students were moved to a one-room school, and in 1879, due to Reno's expanding population, a larger high school, dubbed Central School, was built near Arlington and Fourth streets. This school was commonly referred to as Reno High School and 1879 is the generally accepted date of the school's founding.
Reno High's ski teams are particularly strong. Both the boys' and girls' ski teams have frequently won the state championship, most recently, both teams won the Nevada State ski championships in 2005.
The mission of Reno High School is to prepare responsible, ethical and productive citizens and to promote lifelong learning through quality teaching in a positive learning environment that meets the diverse individual needs of all students in order to ensure student success in an ever-changing society.
