High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.

Troy High School is a combined public and magnet school located in Fullerton, California, USA, well-known for its Troy Tech and International Baccalaureate programs. As of the 2003-2004 school year, 2297 students attend the school, and the average Sat score of its students was 1258, which places it at number 3 among nearly 2,000 peer public high schools in the state, according to the California Department of Education.

The school was established in 1967 and is a public type school. The school principal is Margaret Buchan. The school has dress coad colors Red and black. Troy’s most celebrated program is Troy tech, a specialized secondary magnet program in math, science and technology, which was founded in 1986 under California Education Code 58800. This and the pre-university International Baccalaureate Program set the high academic standards of the school and have attracted local, state, and national attention to Troy.

Troy was one of 27 high schools nationwide honored as a New American High School by former U.S. President Bill Clinton in 2000. It has won first place in the U.S. National Science Olympiad in 1996, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2006 and has also placed favorably in many other competitions on both the regional and national level, including the American Computer Science League 1st in the nation, 5th overall in 2005.

In addition to its academic reputation, Troy is a leader in sports. The girl's basketball team won the state CIF division II title in 2003, 2005, and 2006, and has held the CIF southern section division II title for the past several years. Many of Troy's other sports programs have found success on the league level and several have advanced far into CIF Southern Section Tournament brackets. It is dedicated to promoting student excellence by providing a rigorous academic and vocational program within a positive learning environment.
