Ramsey
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Ramsey is a top high school situated in the United States. Ramsey High School, established in 1908, and occupying a building built in 1936 with additions in 1967 and 1975, has a tradition of excellence in education. The High School has developed an educational program that meets the needs, interests and abilities of its students. Dr. Thomas J. Melville is the Principal of the school.
All students are given an opportunity to participate in athletics the year round in physical education classes, intramurals and interscholastic competition. Ramsey High School is a member of the North Bergen Interscholastic Athletic League, NBIAL which includes Bergenfield, Fair Lawn, Indian Hills, Northern Highlands, Northern Valley-Demarest, Northern Valley-Old Tappan, Pascack Hills, Pascack Valley, Ramapo, and Wayne Hills. In addition, their teams often compete with other area teams outside the NBIAL. In most instances, at least two levels are provided in each sport varsity and junior varsity. Intramurals have included weight training, co-ed volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer, floor hockey, and softball.
Ramsey High School will achieve this goal by informing, guiding and challenging students to understand that new knowledge brings new questions and responsibilities. Realizing the interdependence of skills, content and changing technology, the school will establish an atmosphere in which students increase their competence in acquiring information, in thinking through issues and in communicating ideas and opinions.
The goal of Ramsey High School is to propose the quality training that is necessary if students wish to obtain the skills essential to gain a competitive edge in the business world in the present day.
