In discovered history Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School opened in 1990. The school was named after the protector of the Everglades, Marjory Stoneman Douglas. In 2006, admired Principal Daniel Traeger departed Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and was named the Principal of Broward County High School Reform. He was replaced by Assistant Principal Ann Andersen-Kowalski.
 
The Stoneman Douglas High School Department of Student Athletics is proud to announce that 21 student athletes have received scholarships to colleges around the United States in the 2005-2006 school year equaling a value of 203,175 dollars.
