Pikesville
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Pikesville High School is located in northwest Baltimore County, was organized in September, 1964. Their demographic enrollment reflects a gradual increase in minority students over the last ten years. As they focus on increased educational achievement for all students, they need to search for ways to increase minority participation in advanced level courses. Their current course enrollments do not reflect a consistent participation of minority students in these advanced level courses.
Pikesville High School offers 22 Advanced Placement courses. Historically, over 80 percent of their students who take the Advance Placement tests score 3 or better on the test. As they increase the number of minority students who enroll in advanced level courses, they will see more minority students participating in the Advance Placement testing.
They offer many sports boys and girl's basketball, wrestling, cheerleading and indoor track etc. Pikesville High School is a comprehensive, suburban high school whose mission is to promote high educational achievement and enhance individual growth, to develop citizens who respect multicultural diversity and who value community service in an increasingly interdependent world, to prepare students for the changing world of technology, to continue as an innovative, model high school in the global community.
