Beaufort
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district. Beaufort High School is a four year secondary school in Beaufort, South Carolina. It is one of the two public high schools in Beaufort along with Battery Creek High School. Beaufort High School is a place for opportunities, choices and success. Since 1959, Beaufort High School has given students the freedom of being individual teenagers and allowing him or her to decide their future. Their small schools have been developed by Dan Durbin, Principal to fit their diverse and talented young teens to tone their skills and prepare them for tomorrow. The students will have their own choice to choose which small school he or she desires. The small schools consist of Freshman Academy, International Studies, Arts and Communications and Health Professions. In sports the school offers cheerleading, cross country, football, girl’s golf, and girl’s tennis, swimming, volleyball in fall and boys basketball, girls basketball, wrestling in winter. At Beaufort High School, their mission is to provide a learning environment where students are challenged to reach their individual potential in the acquisition of knowledge and the development of personal, cultural and democratic values essential for future success.
