Barrington

BHS, Barrington High School is a public four-year high school located in Barrington, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois. It is part of Barrington Community Unit School District 220. The average class size is 229. Dr. Thomas Leonard is the Principal of the school. The school serves 9 to 12 grades and the student enrollment is about 2,784. The school mascot is Broncos and school colors are Scarlet, White, and Black.
The school is ranked at 591 on Newsweek's 2005 list of the Best High Schools in America. According to the College Board, Barrington High School ranks in the top 100 percent of more than 14,350 high schools both nationally and internationally for the number of Advance Placement exams taken by students. Their studio-based art program received a state award for excellence and an in-house gallery features regional and professional artists. The music department has received two successive Grammy Awards for exceptional programs.
Barrington's baseball team was the state Class AA champion in 1986 and finished second the following two years. The boy's golf team won the state Class AA title in 1992. The girl’s team won the state gymnastics title in 2000 and the cross country title in 2003. Barrington High School is highly academic and offers not only several Advanced Placement courses, but a wide variety of athletic and extra curricular opportunities for all students.
