Arrowhead
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Arrowhead Union High School is a comprehensive, North Central Accredited, public high school located in Hartland, Wisconsin. Sitting on 117 acres of land, the high school campus boasts North and South Campuses. Arrowhead High School also has its own ice rink, the Mullet Ice Center, donated by Howard G. Mullet. About 2300 students attend the school, taught by around 200 faculty and staff members. There are around 126 extra-curricular activities for the student body to choose from. The school mascot is Wally the Warhawk and school colors are Columbia blue, scarlet and white. In 2006, the school's swim team was in contention for the national swimming title.
Bonnie Laugerman is the North Campus Principal and Gregg Wieczorek South Campus Principal of the school. Arrowhead is a school of national reputation for educational, community, athletic and co-curricular excellence. The class offerings consist of nearly two hundred courses for students with outstanding educational needs to courses for gifted and talented students. There are currently 17 Advanced Placement courses. Arrowhead offers one of the most extensive extra-curricular programs in the state of Wisconsin.
Arrowhead boys cross country team took 4th at state and boys wrestling made it to the state semifinals in the team wrestling. Their football team has been to state seven times in the last 14 years. The school also offers girls hockey and girl’s field hockey. Arrowhead is the only public school in Wisconsin to offer field hockey to students. The high school also boasts the winningest summer baseball coach in Wisconsin high school history, Tim O'Driscoll.
Arrowhead Union High School is highly academic and offers not only several Advanced Placement courses, but a wide variety of athletic and extra curricular opportunities for all students.
