Amherst Central High School is a public high school in Amherst, New York. It is the only high school of the Amherst Central School District. The school population is about 1000 students. JoAnn Balazs is the Principal of school. As the only high school in the Amherst Central School District, ACHS, Amherst Central High School is the final link in their district's outstanding K-12 educational chain. They provide education for students in grades 9 through 12 and offer a broad range of activities for all of their students.
Amherst Central High School has adapted an expansive plan to incorporate state of the art equipment into each phase of the education system. Integrated learning environments will improve the teaching process in vital new ways encouraging problem solving, exploration and creativity in the classroom. The district's music and art programs have been recognized throughout the state for their excellence. They offer their students a full range of interscholastic and intramural athletic opportunities. The school boasts a modern turf field which played host to not only the home team Tigers games, but a large number of state and sectional playoff games.
