Poly High School
Poly High School is a top high school situated in the United States. It’s located at 5450 Victoria Ave, Riverside, California. Poly High traces its heritage to 1887 when the newly formed community of Riverside, California demanded higher education for their children. The first joint-elementary and high school, later called Grant School, graduated the first class of Riverside High School with seven students, four girls and three boys, in 1890. Miss Eugenie Fuller was its principal. When classes grew too large in 1902, a new co-educational high school building was constructed on 9th Street between Lemon and Lime Streets.
Current Principal of school is Mr. Frank Parades. Poly High School is a school where all Students will learn. Poly has a history of excellence dating back to 1889, with their motto as proud of their past, excelling into the future. In May 2005, Poly High School was awarded the California Distinguished School Award. The program identifies and honors some of the states most exemplary and inspiring public schools of which only 5 percent of schools in California are selected. The California distinguished school award is valid for four years.
The educational program at Poly is challenging, student-centered, and standards based. At Poly’s senior award night, 300 seniors in a class of 500 were recognized for academic achievements. In their AVID program, they had 85 percent of the seniors gain admission to a 4 year college.
Inland Empire Magazine recognized Poly as one of the top schools in the Inland Empire, while in a national magazine survey, and Newsweek Magazine named Poly for the third year in a row one of the top 4 percent of schools in the nation, due to their advance placement results.
The mission of Poly High School for the administration, faculty, staff, students, and community is to promote academic excellence by providing opportunities and instruction through which all students can become proficient in literacy and math.
