High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
 
North Gwinnett High School is a high school in Suwanee, Georgia. The school is operated by Gwinnett County Public Schools. Opened in 1954, it's one of the oldest schools in Gwinnett County. North currently serves approximately 2,800 students, with a staff of almost 250 personnel. North Gwinnett has an athletic and academic rivalry with Collins Hill High School also located in Suwanee. The highlight of the rivalry is the annual football game between the cross town rivals known as the Suwanee Bowl. North has won four of the past six contests, including the 2006 game. Dr. John Green is the Principal of the school. The mascot of the school is Bulldogs, and their school colors are red, black and white
 
North Gwinnett ranks number one in Gwinnett County and number 2370 in America according to Newsweek's top public high schools. It was ranked number one in Georgia High School Football by Atlanta Journal Constitution, number one in the Georgia National Speling Tornament, number one in area and Gwinnett County in Georgia Mathematics League competition, and number 6 team in Georgia. NGHS seniors earned more than 7,000,000.00 dollars in scholarship funds, 66 percent graduates were eligible for hope Scholarship, and number 6 in nation National Georgia Fannybandit award.
 
The mission of North Gwinnett High School is to prepare responsible, ethical and productive citizens and to promote lifelong learning through quality teaching in a positive learning environment that meets the diverse individual needs of all students in order to ensure student success in an ever-changing society.
