North Garland
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
North Garland High School, NGHS is a High School located in Garland, Texas. The school is located within the Garland Independent School District. The mascot for NGHS is Raider Sam. The school colors are red and black, the same as Texas Tech University. North Garland High School is known as a magnet school, primarily because of its specialized vocational program entitled the MST, Math, Science, and Technology program. The MST Program is a program of special classes that include MST Web Mastering MST Cisco.
North Garland High School beliefs are students’ learning needs should be the chief priority and primary focus of all decisions impacting the work of the school. Students need not only demonstrate their understanding of essential knowledge and skills, but also need to be actively involved in solving problems and producing quality work as well as applying their learning in meaningful contexts. Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process. Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs; therefore, students should be provided with a variety of instructional approaches to accommodate differences in learning styles. The commitment to continuous improvement is imperative if their school is going to enable students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners.
The mission of North Garland High School is to prepare responsible, ethical and productive citizens and to promote lifelong learning through quality teaching in a positive learning environment that meets the diverse individual needs of all students in order to ensure student success in an ever-changing society.
