Diamond Bar
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Founded in 1982, the school is nearing its 25th Anniversary. DBHS, the Diamond Bar High School is located in Diamond Bar, California, and is a part of the Walnut Valley Unified School District. The school mascot is the brahma bull, and the school colors are purple, gold and white. Diamond Bar High School students participate in programs such as AP, Advanced Placement and IB, International Baccalaureate. Denis Paul is the principal for this high school. During the 2004-2005 school year, DBHS received an Academic Performance Index of 845, and 95 percent of students passed the California High School Exit Exam. The Advanced Placement Program in Calculus program was named one of the World’s Best by the College Board. In 2005, the College Board also recognized Diamond Bar High School's Calculus AB program as the top performing large size school.
Diamond Bar High School has prepared their students with the education and training to succeed in their post secondary endeavors. Consistently, Brahma students have not only flourished during their high school years but have gone on to excel in college and careers. Equally important is the Diamond Bar High School philosophy of developing the whole child through participation in co-curricular opportunities provided in the fine and performing arts, interscholastic athletics, and school activities. Parents along with grade level coordinators work together to guide students in the selection of courses and co-curricular activities that fully develop their skills, talents and interests. Rigor, balance and breadth are the goals of all student educational plans.
Diamond Bar High School is a comprehensive high school committed to student achievement. Academics, athletics, activities and arts are the four pillars that support both student achievement and student connection to the school.
