Newman Smith

NSHS, the Newman Smith is a secondary school in Carrollton, Texas, United States. Newman Smith High School is a part of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District. The school's mascot is the Trojan with school colors as Green and Gold. It currently serves grades 9 to 12, opened in 1975. NSHS received a special award for Art Education from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1998. Joe A. Pouncy is the principal of the school.
Newman Smith High School's enrollment in Advanced Courses has increased significantly in 2005-2006. Currently NSHS total enrollment is 1812 seats of Pre-AP courses and 806 seats of AP enrollment. 50 percent of grade twelve students are enrolled in AP, Advanced Placement Courses, 40.5 percent of grade eleven students are enrolled in Advanced Placement courses, 66.3 percent of grade ten students are enrolled in Pre-Advanced Placement courses and 46.5 percent of grade nine students are enrolled in Pre-AP courses.
NSHS, the Newman Smith is devoted to the education and individual improvement of every candidate. The school attempts to be aware and responsive in its program offerings in order to mirror the requirements of the changing world.
