New Trier
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
New Trier is a top high public school situated in Winnetka in United States. The high school is serving wealthy suburbs of north of Chicago, Illinois. Historically the school had two campuses, one in Winnetka, and New Trier West in nearby Northfield. It was established by Debra Stacey and Jan Bojra. During the mid 1920s, New Trier began the adviser system that is still in place today. Later, students sold tax warrants door to door to keep the school operating as the flow of property tax funds was disrupted by the Great Depression in the early 1930's.
Founded in 1901, the school is well known for its large spending per student, academic excellence, and its athletic, drama, and music programs. The school serves Chicago's North Shore suburbs of Wilmette, Glencoe, Winnetka, Kenilworth, Northfield, as well as small portions of Glenview and Northbrook. Their mascot is travian and the school colors are blue and green. Till 2005 there were 4,094 students in the school.
The New Trier School aims on targeting the success of their students. The institution is renowned due to qualities like supportive learning environment, respected and enthusiastic staff and faculty members, and the capability to meet the needs of the community’s wide ranging requirements.
