New Fairfield High School
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district. NFHS, New Fairfield High School facility serves students in grades nine through twelve. The building accommodates an overall student population of approximately 915 students. New Fairfield High School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Connecticut State Department of Education. Ms. Alicia M. Roy is the Principal of the school. New Fairfield High school became the proud recipient of state and national recognition for excellence. Designated by the United States Department of Education as one of 212 model schools across the nation, NFHS takes pride in its students, professional staff, and outstanding programs. New Fairfield, a growing community of approximately 13,000, is in a transition from a rural summer community to a suburban year-round community. The Guidance Department at NFHS provides a program designed for all students who may meet with their counselor individually, in small groups or in a classroom setting. Counselors provide educational counseling, career planning, post-high school planning and personal counseling. They offer club facilities such as Broadcast Club, Dance Club, Filmmaking Club, Golf Club and Latin Club. NFHS is sometimes noted for the 2005 to 2006 school, year.
The mission of New Fairfield High school is to challenge students to maximize their potential as learners, achievers, and productive world citizens. School will offer for all Students rigorous standards based curricula in preparation for advanced educational opportunities, career paths to provide a school to career with employment and higher education, the knowledge and skill necessary to attain optimal health and physical fitness and to maintain both throughout their lives.
