Crescenta Valley
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Crescenta Valley High School, CVHS is a secondary school located at 2900 Community Avenue in La Crescenta-Montrose, an unincorporated community in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The school is a part of the Glendale Unified School District. The school serves the community of La Crescenta and the GUSD portion of La Canada Flintridge. CVHS opened its doors for the first time in September 1961. As of 2005, the principals are Linda Evans and Mike Livingston. The athletics teams are known as the Falcons.
Crescenta Valley received a National Blue Ribbon School award in 2000 and a California Distinguished School award in 2005. Crescenta Valley received a Bravo Award for excellence in the arts from Los Angeles County in 2005. Crescenta Valley High School's VAPA,Visual and Performing Arts department includes a number of art classes sculpture, paint, ceramics, dance classes, instrumental music classes, vocal and choral music classes and theater classes.
Crescenta Valley High School is devoted to the education and individual improvement of every candidate. The school attempts to be aware and responsive in its program offerings in order to mirror the requirements of the changing world.
