High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district. CWHS, Clovis West is located at Teague, Fresno, California. Jeanne Hatfield is the principal and Ben Drati is the deputy principal. This is a school built on a solid foundation of excellence. The Eagles continue to soar, in academics and co-curricular venues, setting the standard for valley high schools. The staff and many students at Clovis West have been working much of the summer to prepare for a terrific school year through camps, summer school, enrichment programs, and team practices. They went through their WASC, Western Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation visitation last year, earning the best validation possible with a maximum six year grant of accredited status.

The finest teachers, directors, coaches, and advisors are here, working daily with their students, committed to push them to learn more, access more academic rigor, get involved in activities outside the classroom, and strive to be the best they can be. They challenge all of their students to embrace the fine traditions of Clovis West and to maximize their time in high school. Student Services is designed to handle all student problem issues, including dress code violations, behavior problems, truancies, defiances and violations of any other CUSD or California Educational Codes. The Student Services Office is consisted of one main office and a SRC, Student Responsibility Center, which retains student violators until such matter is being addressed.

They are committed to their six year goal, formulated by the CWHS staff as a part of the WASC self study, improving academic and individual achievement for all Students. Their star and cahsee, the exit exam test results, noted in their API, Academic Performance Index set a standard in their district. Knowledge is power, and they want their students, through their knowledge and skills, to be able to access the many options that are open to them in today’s competitive world. They also believe that the education of a child must be comprehensive, embracing the mind, body, and spirit. Their opportunities with elective offerings, co-curricular programs, performing arts, academic competitive teams, and athletic teams support that belief.
