Livingston
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Livingston High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grade from Livingston, in Essex County, New Jersey, as part of the Livingston Public Schools. Livingston High School offers 15 Advanced Placement Program courses within eight department areas. Pam Clause McGroarty is the Principal of the Livingston High School.
The philosophy of Livingston High School stresses a promise to life-long learning. The extracurricular program offers students a broad range of experiences in athletics and academic competitions. The environment for learning is enhanced by the recognition which students and staff receive for their efforts and outstanding accomplishments. For the 1997-98 school year, Livingston High School received the Blue Ribbon Award from the United States Department of Education. Livingston High School was the 14th ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2006 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools.
