High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.

Lake Norman High School is a public school near Mooresville, North Carolina in southern Iredell County, North Carolina. The school is a part of the Iredell-Statesville school system. The name of the school comes from nearby Lake Norman.

Lake Norman High is designated an expected growth school of distinction by the North Carolina ABCs Accountability program. Currently a 3A school, attendance was approximately 1600 students in the 2005-2006 school years, an increase of about 300 from the previous year. Attendance is projected to grow further due to the high population influx in the southern part of the county. The school was built in 2002 to relieve overcrowding at South Iredell High School, but is now experiencing overcrowding itself. The school system approved a 20-classroom Freshman Academy expansion project in December, 2005, intended to accommodate a projected enrollment of 1800 students. The Freshman Academy expansion project is expected to be near completion by the 2nd semester of the 2006-2007 school years.

Lake Norman High School Has a vision to be a top ten high school in North Carolina. As a staff they have the following beliefs are students need to be responsible for their learning, students need a safe, inviting, and supportive learning environment and they are all lifelong learners; all students learn differently and student involvement in extra-curricular activities enhances student academic performance; student social and emotional well-being must be addressed for students to learn. David Blattner is the Principal of the School. Kimberly Gantt, Val Falkner, Terry Jonas, and Herman Roberts are the Assistant Principals.

Their mission is rigorously challenging all students to achieve their academic potential and to lead productive and rewarding lives. They will achieve this mission with the support of parents, staff, and the community.
