High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.

Cerritos High School is a public school in Cerritos, California, serving grades 9 to 12. It is a part of the ABC Unified School District, which also oversees Artesia, Gahr and Whitney High Schools. Cerritos' current principal is Jeff Green and Vice principal is Charles Brotchner.

During construction of the campus, located across the street from the Cerritos library and city hall, Cerritos High School began its history by sharing the campus of nearby Richard Gahr High School. A rapidly expanding student population during the 1970s necessitated the campus sharing arrangement. Cerritos High is the main public high school for the City of Cerritos with a student population of approximately 2,500 students. Though the school mascot is the don, or Spanish lord, the original mascot was the donkey. The school colors are black and gold.

Cerritos High School is widely known for its many programs such as clubs, leadership, and sports. The Model United Nations program offered at Cerritos High is a program where students can be delegates and represent a country in the United Nations. The school offers a broadcasting program called C-High TV. Other activities offered are marching band, drama, yearbook, journalism and the associated student body. Their additionally annual activities include International Food Court Day, Club Day, Yearbook Signing Party, and Staff verses Student Soccer Game and many more. Cerritos High wins many suburban league titles in sports such as girls' volleyball, girls' basketball, badminton, swimming, boys' water polo, track and field, boys' and girls' tennis, golf and boys' volleyball.

The mission of Cerritos High School is to provide their students with opportunities to obtain the skills needed to become productive, responsible citizens, capable of making positive contributions to a changing society.
