High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
 
Kennedy High School is a top high school situated in the United States. Kennedy High School is a public high school located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa that was founded in 1967. Kennedy High School is foundation for the performing arts. The purpose of the FPA, Financial Planning Association is to represent the interests of all performing arts groups at Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They seek to raise funds for projects that benefit all performing arts groups and that continue to enhance the performing arts at the high school. Dr. Mary Wilcynski is the principle of Kennedy High School.
 
More than 90 percent of colleges and universities grant exemptions from introductory courses to students who have successfully completed an Advanced Placement, AP program. Students can be granted up to a full year’s credit by a college or university upon completion of a number of AP programs. Open to all high school seniors who plan to attend Iowa State University for the fall semester of 2007. Applicant must rank in the upper 15 percent of high school class have an ACT, American College Testing composite score of at least 26 or an SAT, Scholastic Aptitude Test score of 1760 or above, and exhibit involvement in high school and community activities, particularly in leadership positions.
 
The official school citizenship award is presented to students who excel in scholarship, attendance, and are involved in activities, and school-community service. Each term certificates and T-shirts are awarded to students who are selected for the recognition.  Once a student has been inducted into the above and beyond group, good citizenship and school leadership becomes a continual expectation. Above and Beyond induction is sustained through a student's high school career. Once a student has earned a letter, three additional consecutive terms of 3.33 will be rewarded with a lamp of learning pin to place on the letter.
