Jordan
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Jordan High School, home of the Falcons, was opened in 1963. For the past 40 years, is located at Garrett Road Durham. English is a comprehensive approach to the Standard Course of Study. Advanced Placement, AP English is equivalent to a college freshman course with the curriculum and required exam prescribed from a national level. The AP level is the most rigorous and is weighted College Board research indicates that a score of 46 or above on the PSAT is a predictor of success in this course.
Jordan high school is a top high school situated in the United States. The Jordan community has first hand experience with the challenges presented by the move to a hybrid block schedule. Now they will get the opportunity to work and expand in a schedule in which we have experienced some successes. The range of successes flow from the first written assignments, semester projects, the semester EOC, end-of-course tests, the EOC tests from the Ninth Grade Academy in June, the administration of over 900 Advanced Placement tests and the final week of completing exams on both the A/B schedule and the block schedule.
Jordan High School has set high goals and standards and all personnel and athletes are encouraged to strive to achieve them while maintaining a proper perspective on sports, school and life. Jordan High School has been recognized as a safe school. Jordan has the least amount of violent incidences than any other high school in our system. A safe school paves the way for many opportunities and accomplishments. Jordan High School received the Character Matters award for the fifth consecutive year.
Jordan High School will continue to be the best high school in the Durham Public Schools. Jordan students will continue to earn recognition for their academic and athletic achievements.
