James Madison
High school is a name used in some parts of the world and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11 and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
James Madison High School is a high school located in Vienna, Virginia and is part of Fairfax County public school. The school was established in the year 1959. Mark Merrell was the principal of the school. Their mascot is the warhawk and their colors are black and red. According to newsweek Magazine's 2006 list of the top United States high schools, Madison was ranked 123.
James Madison High School's student body consisted of 79 percent white, 4 percent black, 6 percent Hispanic and 11 percent Asian. James Madison High School is a fully accredited high school based on the standards of learning tests in Virginia. The average Scholastic aptitude test score in 2006 for Madison was 1,702 of which 570 was in critical reading, 582 in math and 550 in writing. Along with this, the school has a very diverse Athletic department.
The mission of James Madison high school is to provide their students equal opportunities to grow along with all round development. It helps the students to understand their true potential, in education as well as in extra curricular activities. The students acquire knowledge in a unique way resulting in the development of values which are essential for future success.
