High school is a name used in some parts of the world and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11 and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.

Jackson High School is located near Massillon, Ohio and serves grades 9 through 12. The school is a part of the Jackson local school district. The official colors are purple and gold and the mascot is a polar bear. The school's principal, Rick Campbell, has held that position since the year 2002 to 2003 school year. Campbell is affectionately known by students as Slick Rick, Slick Ricker and Slick Dicker. As of January 2006, the school had 1878 students, 956 males and 922 females.

Jackson High School is a founding member school of the Federal League, including the schools of Perry High, Boardman High, Lake High, Mckinley High, North Canton Hoover High, Glenoak High and Austintown Fitch High. The school has also done well in various extra curricular activities such as athletics, sports and music. The girls cross country team had finished second in the state only to Bowling Green High school in an intense race during the 2005 school year. The men's cross country team also performs well at local regional, and state levels.

In 2006, the school was rated as academically excellent by the Ohio department of education with a scoring of 110 and meeting 12 of 12 academic achievement indicators. In 2005, the school was also named to newsweek's list of the top 1,000 schools in America. The Jackson local district scored 106.9, making it the highest scoring district in Stark and several surrounding counties. Their mission is to provide their students equal opportunities to grow with all round development. Along with that the students acquire knowledge in a unique way resulting in the development of values which are essential for future success.
