J.J. Pearce
High school is a name used in some parts of the world and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11 and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
J.J. Pearce High School is a high school located in an affluent neighborhood in Richardson, Texas. Karen Neal is the principal of the school. The mascot of the school is Mustangs and the official colors are red and blue. In the year 2005, it had an enrollment of 2,012. It is part of the Richardson Independent school district along with Berkner High School, Lake Highlands High School and Richardson High School. Newsweek also ranked Pearce at the number 528 in the top 1,000 high schools in the nation. The schools were ranked based on the number of students who had signed up for advanced placement courses and the advanced placement tests.
The construction had begun in the year 2004, so that the freshman grade level could be moved. Currently the construction have been finished and for the year 2005 to 2006, the freshmen class has moved to the newest wing at Pearce. Pearce High School also has a strong academic decathlon team. The school holds the most national wins in United States academic decathlon history and has also succeeded in being in the top ten schools in the state competition since its founding. Pearce has a strong band program as well. The band has been named as the state honor band twice, one in 1985 and the other in 2001.
The mission of J.J. Pearce High School is to provide their students equal opportunities to grow along with all round development. It helps the students to understand their true potential. Along with that it helps them to acquire knowledge in a unique way resulting in the development of values which are essential for future success.
