Leland High School
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Leland High School was established in 1967, Leland High School is one of seven high schools in the San Jose Unified School District. Leland is located in the Almaden Valley, thirteen miles south of downtown San Jose, California. Bob Setterlund is the Principal and Cliff Mitchell is the Assistant Principal. Leland High School is a leader in communications and technology, challenges and empowers students to shape the future in an ever-changing global landscape through developing creative thought, providing multi-faceted learning opportunities and fostering reciprocal partnerships. Leland’s legacy is lifelong learning.
The Leland foundation for excellence in education is launching a fundraising campaign to support enhancements in the science program. Leland takes pride in its ethnic and cultural diversity. Leland’s student body boasts twenty-nine different languages such as White 43 percent, Asian 39 percent, Hispanic 13 percent, Black 1 percent, Indian 2 percent and other 2 percent. Leland Foundation is committed to helping students and educators prepare for the demands and opportunities of the 21st century. The focus is to improve academic achievement through excellence in education at Leland High School.
