High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.

La Quinta high School is one of the newest and most progressive high schools in the Coachella Valley. La Quinta High School opened its doors to freshmen and sophomores in the fall of 1994. The school is located at La Quinta, California. More students join their ranks along with an influx of highly qualified faculty and administration. It is recognized since 1999 as a California Distinguished School and the only International Baccalaureate high school in the valley, their school is renowned for its academic programs and ever changing curriculum.

The diversity inherent in La Quinta High School's activities department reflects the diversity among the current student population. The activities department strives to uphold the school's mission to educate the whole child by offering a variety of co-curricular activities. Students of all grade levels have the opportunity to hone their leadership and decision-making skills by serving as Student Council officers. Dances and other social events are held at least once a month, either on campus or at a local, off-campus facility, and are an excellent opportunity for students to enjoy life outside of the classroom.

La Quinta High School is proud of its sound academic program and dedicated faculty. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Over ninety percent of La Quinta High School graduates pursue higher education. It is the goal of their Principal and the administrative team to provide students with the most up-to-date academic programs, incorporating the most modern technology and teaching methods. The mission of La Quinta High School is to challenge students to maximize their potential as learners, achievers, and productive world citizens.
