High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
 
William H. Hall High School is a four year public high school located in West Hartford, Connecticut. It is one of two public high schools in the West Hartford Public School System, the other being Conard High School. Donald J. Slater is the Principal of the school. The enrollment in grades 9 to 12 for the 2004 to 2005 school year was 1875 students. The school colors are blue and white, and the mascot is the Warrior.
 
Hall High School has an ongoing cross-town rivalry with Conard High School. In 2006, two Hall students, Ezra Silk and Ben Kudler, were suspended from the staff of the school newspaper Hall Highlights after attempting to publish an article detailing the prevalence of alcohol in the lives of many of the school's high achievers. After a press controversy they were allowed to distribute their paper at Hall, although not through Highlights. It is recognized by Newsweek magazine as one of the nation's top high schools. It is ranked as number 624 in the nation as of 2006.
 
Their academic departments include business education, family and consumer science, physical education and health, technology education, department of technology education etc. their sports include fall sports, winter sports and spring sports. Hall High School's Hotline Hall High School has instituted a confidential hotline to provide students, parents, and community members the opportunity to share information of serious nature with the administration while remaining anonymous.

Hall High School mission is to develop the interpersonal teamwork, communication, and leadership skills needed to function in diverse and rapidly changing settings, develop and maintain behavior that promotes lifelong health and develop an awareness of global issues by recognizing the plurality of cultures, societies and beliefs. The mission of Hall High School is to challenge students to maximize their potential as learners, achievers, and productive world citizens.
