Franklin
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Franklin High School, the Elk Grove Unified School District's sixth comprehensive high school, opened in August 2002. Charlotte Phinizy is the Principal of Franklin High School. It is built to the east of the historic town of Franklin, the high school occupies land that, until three years ago, was primarily home to dairy farms. It is now one of the fastest growing suburban communities in the newly incorporated City of Elk Grove.
The Franklin High School complex includes its primary feeder school, Toby Johnson Middle School, and the 19,000 square feet Franklin Community Library, a joint use facility operated in partnership with the Sacramento County Library system. Franklin High School is dedicated to challenging students with varied and rigorous curricula, and supporting their success through a comprehensive academic guidance and support program and personalized educational planning.
Franklin Community Library serves the students of Franklin High School and Toby Johnson Middle School as well as the general public. The library offers many books and special materials to enhance classroom learning, plus activities and services similar to those in other public library branches.
The mission of Franklin High School and Toby Johnson Middle School is to challenge students to maximize their potential as learners, achievers, and productive world citizens.School will offer for all Students rigorous standards-based curricula in preparation for advanced educational opportunities, career paths to provide a school to career with employment and higher education, the knowledge and skill necessary to attain optimal health and physical fitness and to maintain both throughout their lives.
