Florida State University High School
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Florida State University High School of the Arts is a top high school situated in the United States. Florida State University High School has a new location in beautiful Southwood, in the southwest part of Tallahassee. It is a K12 charter school sponsored by Florida State University. It provides research and development opportunities for educators as well as providing a laboratory for teacher education. It has approximately 1600 students that represent a population typical of other school sites in Florida. It has strong programs in the academics as well as award-winning arts and athletic programs.
Excellence is their Standard Florida State University High Schools Mission Statement. In collaboration with the College of Education at Florida State University, the mission of Florida State University Schools is to advance Florida's K12 education through exemplary teaching, research, and service.
Florida State University High School moves to new school site at Southwood in 2000. Their goal is to provide a high school environment that presents each student with the opportunity and support necessary to be successful. In addition, they hope that students will take part and become involved in many clubs, service organizations, athletics, music, drama, and art programs available to them each year. Above all, they strongly believe that if students, parents, teachers, and staff demonstrate the cooperative spirit of teamwork then this school year will be one of the best.
