High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district. Fernandina Beach High School is located in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Fernandina Beach High School principal is Jane Arnold and Curtis Gaus is Assistant Principal. The Fernandina Beach High School Foundation was formed by a group of civic, business and educational leaders in June of 1987. It was the vision of former principal Dr. William Fryar that a foundation might be successful in enhancing the quality of education at our high school. The Foundation was established to be completely independent of the Nassau County School Board and is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation. Since its inception, the Foundation has invested approximately 250,000 dollars in education at FBHS, Freehold Boro High School. Their sports include Baseball, Baseball, Basketball, Bowling, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Softball, Tennis, and Volleyball. The Mainsail Award is given in recognition of those who have been outstanding in their generosity and support of the Fernandina Beach High School Foundation.
The mission of Fernandina Beach High School for the administration, faculty, staff, students, and community is to promote academic excellence by providing opportunities and instruction through which all students can become proficient in literacy and math.
