High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Fayetteville High School is a public high school located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Fayetteville High School was first opened in 1908 and its current building was built in 1950, with further renovations made in the 1980s. The school is administered by the Fayetteville Public Schools system. The school was also the first school in Arkansas to voluntarily desegregate and on September 11, 1954, African American students first attended the high school. Mr. Steve Percival is the President of the school.
Fayetteville High School offers the different technology in many fields with few programs. There are a lot of departments available with facilities such as physical education, special education related academics. In 2006, Fayetteville High School was named the 413th best high school in the nation according to the Newsweek magazine's Top 1200 US Schools.
