Fairview High School
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Fairview High School is located in Boulder, Colorado. Fairview High School's provides a rigorous academic program in an atmosphere of pervasive caring which will challenge all students to perform quality work and become prepared to be creative and critical thinkers, life-long learners, productive and responsible international citizens, and positive moral leaders in the 21st Century.
Athletics at Fairview High School include Cross Country, Football, Boys Golf, Boys Soccer, Softball, Boys Tennis, Volleyball, Wrestling, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Girls Swimming, Baseball, Girls Golf, Boys LaCrosse, Girls Lacrosse, Girls Soccer, Boys Swimming, Girls Tennis, and Spirit Squad. Fairview has had great success with its athletic programs, boasting multiple state championships in cross country and swimming, as well as reaching state tournaments in Football and Basketball.
Fairview is one of many schools in the United States to offer the International Baccalaureate, IB diploma program. The program requires no application to attend, and is composed of two years of an internationally standardized curriculum. These classes are usually taught during a student's junior and senior years. In addition to the rigorous coursework, a participant must also write a lengthy Extended Essay and participate in 150 CAS hours within the community before the full IB Diploma is rewarded. Because of the rigorous nature of the program, Fairview also offers a Pre-IB program composed of two years of preparatory honors classes. These are taken during a student's freshman and sophomore years.
The mission of Fairview High School is to provide an environment in which all students will acquire the necessary skills to become responsible thinkers who appreciate diversity and are productive citizens in their community.
