Eastern Sierra Academy
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district. ESA, Eastern Sierra Academy is an extremely small with 22 students and four teachers, technology-based, college-preparatory public high school serving the town of Bridgeport, California. In Newsweek magazine's Challenge index ranking of America's 27,000 public high schools, ESA was ranked 19th in the nation and 1st in California based on its 2004 performance. In 2003, the school was ranked 7th in the nation for their performance in the 2002. Students at Eastern Sierra Academy participate in a curriculum that prepares them for post-secondary education. Parents, students and school staff all have responsibilities and are accountable to one another in order to have maximum success for each student. With a student body of 22 and four teachers, ESA has sought other avenues to provide experts in each curricular field. Students from the school have given presentations to professional organizations, received awards for their projects and have presented workshops at conferences.
ESA, Eastern Sierra Academy is devoted to the education and individual improvement of every candidate. The school attempts to be aware and responsive in its program offerings in order to mirror the requirements of the changing world.
