High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
 
Arroyo High School, one of the two high schools located within the San Lorenzo Unified School District of Northern California, is about 30 miles away from San Francisco. Arroyo High School has a diverse student body of more than 1800 students enrolled in ninth through twelfth grade. Many of these students participate in a variety of programs such as music, sports, student government, and clubs.
 
Arroyo High School established in 1955. Larry Smith’ is the Principal of the school and President is Miss. Tami Lantz. The curriculum at Arroyo is one of the finest in the area. With more than 90 instructors, Arroyo offers a wide range of educational programs ranging from Advanced Placement and Honors to Home Economics classes that teach students basic life skills.
 
The school clubs includes Asian Pacific Islander Club, California scholarship federation, choral music club, cultural dance club, drama club, instrumental music club, interact club, Lite, Living in truth eternally club, math club, rally squad club, robotics team, ski and snowboard club etc. A high percentage of Arroyo graduates enter college. Many choose to attend nearby Chabot College. Notably, many Arroyo graduates have been accepted into prestigious universities such as UC Berkeley, Stanford, and Georgetown.
 
School department includes fine arts, english, fine arts, mathematics, science, physical education, social study, science, social study and special education. Thy have girl and boys team in athletics. Girl’s teams contain Tennis, Softball, Volleyball, Soccer, Cross Country and Boys includes Tennis, Varsity Basketball, Soccer, and Cross Country.
 
The mission of Arroyo High School is to provide an environment in which all students will acquire the necessary skills to become responsible thinkers who appreciate diversity and are productive citizens in their community.
