Menomonie

Menomonie is a city in and the county seat of Dunn County in western Wisconsin. The city's population was 14,937 at the 2000 census. It is the principal city of and is included in the Menomonie Micropolitan Statistical Area. The city is located partially within the Town of Menomonie.
Together with surrounding communities, the Menomonie micropolitan area was, according to the 2000 census, home to 21,900 people. The city forms the core of the United States Census Bureau's Menomonie micropolitan statistical area, which includes all of Dunn County. The Menomonie, together with the Eau Claire metropolitan area to the east, forms the Census Bureau's Eau Claire-Menomonie Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city center is located at the south end of Lake Menomin, a reservoir on the Red Cedar River. Menomonie is the home of the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 37.8 square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 15.5 percent under the age of 18, 40.4 percent from 18 to 24, 20.5 percent from 25 to 44, 12.3 percent from 45 to 64, and 11.3 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 23 years. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.6 males.
Menomonie is also known as the city of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
