The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia.

Louisville is Kentucky's largest city. It is ranked as either the 16th or 27th largest city in the United States depending on how the population is calculated. The settlement that became the City of Louisville was founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark and is named after King Louis XVI of France. Louisville is most famous as the home of The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports namely the Kentucky Derby, the widely watched first race of the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing.

The city area is 1,032 square kilometers. The population in 2005 was 699,827 with density of  1,592.6 per square kilometers. Louisville is located on the northern limit of the humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and humid with mildly warm evenings. The downtown business district of Louisville is located immediately south of the Ohio River, and southeast of the Falls of the Ohio.

The Louisville area is home to 122 spacious city parks covering more than 14,000 acres, located throughout the city. Several of these parks were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed New York City's Central Park as well as parks, parkways, college campuses and public facilities in many U.S. locations. Other outdoor points of interest in the Louisville area include Cave Hill Cemetery and Arboretum, Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, the Louisville Zoo, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom and the Falls of the Ohio National Wildlife Conservation Area.

Louisville is also known as the city of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
